I've brought this up on SRB2MB too. But it's still worth discussing here.

Anyway...the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was completely destroyed in a terrible earthquake. By current estimates, 45,000 are dead and perhaps 3 million have lost everything they had.

    Comments? Thoughts?

Oh, my. I heard about this. And to think that the Dominican Republicans are doing absolutely nothing to help because they don't like the Haitians(HAY-shuns). It's really sick, in my opinion.

I don't think the Dominicans would be well-suited to help Haiti even if they wanted to...although the Dominican Republic is wealthier than Haiti, they still aren't in great shape. Even so, it's practically assured that the Dominican Republic will see an enormous influx of Haitian refugees, whether they like it or not.

I heard today that 100,000 to 500,000 are dead... It's sad to hear that... It is actually the worst natural disaster in the history of the world! I heard that today too.

I dunno...what about the earthquake that struck Lisbon, Portugal, a few hundred years ago? That basically leveled a city too...and in that case, a pretty rich city.

Mini Bump. There is a poor girl in my class who's family lives in Hati. She is worried for them being down there considering that they were affected. We try to help her as much as we can as we feel sorry for her.
