Don't forget...lots of the scariest aspects of those things are only in sci-fi horror stories, designed to show a distorted worst-case scenario view of the future to entertain. Nuclear bombs are legitimately scary, but you have to remember that there is a complex political dynamic between nations which keeps nuclear bombs from actually being used on other countries.
