Every now and then, I get someone asking me something about the Gold User rank. This topic will (hopefully) clear it up once and for all.
Gold Users are members of the SRB2 Shelter who stand out as particularly insightful, intelligent, or really positively contribute to the board, with WADs or with good posts. There are no special privileges associated with Gold User status, but having the title advertises that you did those things I mentioned. Also, this hasn't happened yet, but if I ever need or want to promote somebody to the lofty ranks of Moderator or Administrator, the Gold Users are first in line for consideration.
I also want to make it perfectly clear that if you're not a Gold User, that doesn't mean you're dumb, or a n00b, or whatever. It usually just means you're not ready, whether it's because you haven't been on this board very long, or because I just haven't yet had the chance to see you at your best. So don't be discouraged if the rank of Gold User eludes you.
