1. The Ring System is just like a forum point system, and you earn rings by basically being active on the forum. Right now they're just for bragging rights, but we may tie them to rewards later if we can think of a way.
2. The friend system is exactly what it sounds like. You can send out friend requests to various people, and they can accept them or reject them. It's just an attempt to try to create a sense of community and bonding on the SRB2 Shelter, although nobody's using it right now.
